“The Show must go on”
So yeah, one of the biggest fashion events just ended and
all of it took place online, as one of the world four fashion capitals did not
allow the event to take place due to the outbreak. Well it can be said that the
event took place smoothly, where no expensive venues had to be selected, no
security measures needed to be taken and no photography. COVID-19 had people
all over the world enjoy the event from the comfort of their homes. One of the
shocking turn of events was that a few brands were able to showcase their new
designs, as other brands were struggling to survive the economic crisis
engulfing the entire industry.
This fashion event paved path for future events to take
place online, where the audience could view designer clothes through the
webpage. However, if we talk about the experience then it is my opinion that it
was just not the same. Well this event was not just about the clothes and the
designs, it was a way through which brands were able to portray their stories
to the people. The event proved to be a new way through which the designers and
audience could interact with one another. With live Question and Answer
sessions, as well as through the easy use of technology a wider range of
audience could come online to enjoy the event. This marked the growth of the
industry towards the future.
Designers like Bianca Saunders, Nicholas Daley and Priya
Ahluwalia took to the stage this year and showcased some amazing designs in the
online event. While big names like Victoria Beckham, Burberry and A-Cold-Wall
seemed to be missing from the event. COVID-19 has truly changed the dynamics of
the world and has allowed people to experience events in a new and intriguing
manner.
